As I enter my 24th year in the investigation industry and my 20th year working with the healthcare industry specifically, I am amazed at the changes that have occurred.  From an investigation standpoint, we are now governed by many more rules (while incredibly important to safeguard consumer privacy) make it a veritable minefield for those conducting background investigations.  As a member of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners, we strive to stay up to date on all rules and regulations governing our industry both on a federal and state level.  This is definitely the cover-your-backside era !  Our membership has a strong presence at all levels of legislation.  While always understanding the need to protect the privacy of consumers, we are always fighting for the rights of the employers to have accurate, important information crucial in hiring decisions.
